Your love, Your glory

Your Love, Your Glory- Joshua Atkin

(verse)

Through the darkness of the night

through the brokenness inside

all the lonelies of the nations

calling out Your name

Through the pain and suffering

through the hate overpowering

all the lonelies of the earth

just wanna hear You God!

(bridge)

So God, You hear them.

And God, You lead them!

(chorus)

You rise above the midnight sky

You appear to those who need the high

of Your love, Your glory.

It showers down like a shooting star

the earth is full of Your love afar!

Darkness is gone! The lights are on!

And it’s all because of You!

a little background of this song: now this song came about during a songwriting workshop with Jake Hamilton at Jesus Culture: Atlanta this past July. It is derived from the verse Isaiah 60:2 which is “Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the LORD rises and appears over you.” (NLV) It’s a verse that one of my dear good friends brought upon me and with the help of that verse and God’s hand on my hand, I ended up with this song. Now I am very upset for I cannot remember how I sang it, which bothers me so. It’s not your typical verse-chorus-verse type of song.  There is no pattern or anything, and that’s what I like about it! So just read these lyrics and I hope you can feel the verse poured out over them. enjoy:)

like a hurricane

Like a Hurricane –  Joshua Atkin (with help from Ashleigh Cramsey and Shelby Uhler)

(verse 1)

crying in my room

not knowing what to do.

I look outside and see the gray,

storm clouds a high.

a rumble of thunder, a flash of lightning,

a misty sky, my heart comes alive,

cause here comes Your love,

it comes like rain,

(chorus)

Your love’s like a hurricane,

it sweeps me off my feet

I fall to my knees

all my fears and failures are washed away

cause You’re here God!

Yeah, You’re here God!

Your love’s like the pouring rain

I’m doused in your glory

I’m dancing, unashamed.

worshipping you is all i wanna do

cause You’re here God!

Oh, You’re here God!

(verse 2)

the wind picks up, yet

i run outside.

getting soaked in His love

is just fine to me.

yeah, it’s just fine to me.

Oh! here comes Your love, God.

It’s coming like the RAIN!!

(chorus)

(bridge)

Your love la love la love love God!

Your love la love la love love God!

Your love, is all I need!

x3

(chorus)

yeah.

a little background of this song: I got the chorus to this song just like that, as I was pulling carts into Martins one night. I felt empowered but the lyrics that I needed to write a song, for I knew God had helped me figure out those lyrics. I thought that it would all be easy as pie. I. was. wrong. I could not think of any lines for verses whatsoever, and when I did, they were just knock-off lyrics from another song. I soon became easily frustrated and stress out with this song. Yet, I realized that I was trying to write it all by myself, without the help of God. So I prayed about it and He answered. I also asked friends for ideas and their input helped form the verses. With the help of God and two good friends, here it is.

you can trust Him

you can trust Him - Joshua Atkin

(verse 1)

He’ll never tell your secrets,

He will never run away.

He loves you more than anyone could

so please don’t go astray.

(chorus)

You can trust Him.

Oh, you can trust Him.

(verse 2)

He will never stab you in the back,

He’ll never call you names.

He’ll be there for you when no one else is

so please just find a way,

(chorus)

to. Trust Him.

You can trust Him.

Please, please trust Him.

You can trust Him.

(bridge)

Oh! He loves you!

(you can trust him)

Oh! How He loves you!

(please just trust him)

(verse 3)

He will never stab you in the back,

He’ll never call you names.

He loves you more than anyone could,

so please just find the way,

(chorus)

to. Trust Him.

You can trust Him.

Please, please trust Him.

Oh, you can trust Him.

(bridge)

Oh! He loves you!

(you can trust him)

Oh! How He loves you!

(oh, you can trust him)

Hey! God loves you!

(yes, he loves you)

Hey! God truly loves you!

(so please, trust him)
